This morning I woke up grateful for two things for today. Number one, I'm grateful that I don't have to have chemo today and that I get to postpone it until next week. Number two, I'm grateful that I get to go to the temple to be a part of Andrea's first time going through.
Andrea came over to drive with Tyler and I drove with Lincoln. It was a
beautiful summer morning. Andrea’s mom
was there waiting for us in the temple foyer. She was so excited to see her
daughter there. Lincoln and Annette were Tyler & Andrea’s escorts. I got
dressed and waited in the temple chapel. I had about an hour to ponder and reflect on
this day and what it means to our family. I read the scriptures and poured my
heart out in earnest prayer that Tyler & Andrea would feel the spirit today
and be sure of the decision that they are making tomorrow to be married. I also
asked the Lord to continue to allow miracles to happen in my life and thanked him that I am able to be part of this special day. It was a
sweet peace.
After the endowment session, Lincoln & I and Andrea’s
family waited in the beautiful Celestial Room for Tyler and Andrea to enter. As
they walked in, hand in hand, I felt the overwhelming joy of being together as
a family in the temple. Each of us took a moment, to quietly give Tyler and
Andrea a hug and express our love to them. I truly believe that this is what heaven
will be like. We will be together with our family members in the presence of God and feeling the
powerful spirit of love. I pray that each of my other children will desire to
make the choices necessary in their lives that we will have the opportunity to
share this same experience with each one of them as they find their own sweetheart. I am extremely grateful for this morning’s
experience.
This afternoon, we came home and I took a nap. Chad flew in from Alaska this morning. He later came over and helped Lincoln take the sound system and projector over to the Veteran’s
Memorial Building for the wedding dinner. My friends and neighbors went over before me and set up all the tables and chairs and decorated the place
just beautifully! I was amazed as I walked in and saw how they had transformed
the place. It was gorgeous! At 6pm, family and the wedding party showed up and
the evening began. Lincoln did a great job as the MC. Andrea’s dad, Kim, and I
each did a short spotlight on the kids’ lives. We enjoyed dinner and then had
people share words of advice for the newlyweds.
Some of the fun advice they received was: "If you have to argue, argue naked!" "Always go to bed angry, it’s more fun to make up." "To the husband, remember that the last two words you say at
the end of any argument should be, “You’re right.”" "Remember that through everything, have fun and enjoy your
time together. Remember to laugh and smile and just love each other." "To the husband, 'No matter what size bed you buy, it doesn't really matter, you will only get 'this' much of it.'" "Spend the rest of your life loving and serving your spouse and you will find true happiness."
The food was delicious and the company was wonderful. My sweet friends served dessert and then cleaned everything up at the end so I could go home and rest up for the big day tomorrow! I am so grateful for the wonderful people in my life!
