Last night I
sent Chad an email letting him know that we had received a letter in the mail
for him yesterday from a medical school. I wasn’t sure if I should open it,
send it to him, or just keep it until he gets back at the end of the month. I
told him a little about my treatments and that I’m doing well. I really didn’t
expect to hear back from him. He’s really busy with his job in Alaska and we
usually don’t hear from him very often.
I was
thrilled to see an email in my inbox from him this morning. He said that he was
glad to hear from me and that he’s been super busy this summer with his job.
Then he wrote something that really touched my heart. He wrote, “I’m glad you
are getting through everything. I’m proud of you. Really. You make cancer look
easy. J” I needed to hear that. Sometimes I
have felt like he doesn’t really have time to think much about me and what I’m going
through. It meant the world to me to know that he does care and he’s proud of
me. I miss him and I wish we were closer. It will be great to see him when he
gets home in 3 weeks.
